Another propane-powered bobtail, truck for the industry

April 19, 2013 By

Alkane Truck Co. introduced two new propane autogas-powered trucks at the Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo earlier this week in Atlanta. The two vehicles are a bobtail for propane marketers and a medium-to-heavy-duty truck with an open bed.

The medium-to-heavy-duty truck, a business class Freightliner M2 106, features a Liberator 6.1-liter, propane-powered engine that delivers 680 pounds of torque at 1,900 rpm.

Alkane was formed in 2010 along with its sister company, Valor Motor Cars, which manufactures alternative-fuel passenger vehicles. Among Alkane’s partners are Freightliner, Fontaine Modification, Certification Services International, Roush CleanTech, Progress Tank and Mickey Truck Bodies.
