C2 school bus latest in Thomas Built lineup

Thomas Built Buses expanded its vehicle lineup with the Saf-T-Liner C2 propane autogas-fueled school bus. According to a press release, the first few propane C2 models were delivered to a few customers, and Thomas Built Buses is now ramping up production.

The C2 is equipped with an Allison 2300 PTS Series transmission and an 8.0-liter LP gas engine with a CleanFuel USA liquid propane injection system. The two-tank setup has an estimated 300-mile range with a 70-gallon capacity. According to Thomas Built, the C2 has a gross vehicle weight rating of 33,000 lbs. and a capacity of up to 81 passengers. It is California Air Research Board certified and exceeds EPA 2010 emissions requirements, Thomas Built adds.
