About 500 outdoor power equipment dealers signed up over the past six months to be listed on Propane Equipment Dealer Point, according to the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC).

PERC launched Propane Equipment Dealer Point in 2016 as a free, searchable database that allows landscape contractors to find local, knowledgeable dealers committed to selling propane mowers. The database features dealers from 47 states, and several states have dozens of signups already listed, PERC says. Pennsylvania has more than 40 dealers listed; Texas has more than 30 dealers listed; and California, Florida and Indiana all have more than 20 dealers listed.

“That so many applications were submitted in such a short time shows that dealers see the value of being listed in the database as a way to drive more customers through their doors while differentiating their product offerings from the surrounding competition,” says Jeremy Wishart, PERC’s deputy director of business development.

PERC vets each dealer listed in the database with a series of questions prior to being listed so contractors know they will contact dealers that are interested in selling propane equipment and able to answer questions about the fuel, PERC adds.
