The Southern Platte Fire District responded to the fire, which resulted from a pipeline explosion, according to the television station’s report. The fire was extinguished later that night. The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time, and company officials are monitoring the site.
The affected pipeline carries an ethane/propane mix, according to Rick Rainey, vice president of public relations at Enterprise Products Partners. The pipeline serves petrochemical customers, and the incident should not disrupt supply to propane retailers, Rainey adds.
“The pipeline that had the product release is our East Red line and carries ethane/propane mix,” he says. “The blue line is dedicated to propane service, and there is no indication of any problems.”
Enterprise Products Partners isolated the pipeline segment and plans to further investigate the rupture, KQTV adds.
