Ferrellgas heads west for latest, ‘historic’ acquisition

April 3, 2013 By

Ferrellgas has acquired the propane operation of Western Petroleum of Roosevelt, Utah, the nation’s second largest propane retailer announced. Ferrellgas says the acquisition strengthens its presence in portions of the country it has long targeted for growth – Western Petroleum has a solid residential and industrial customer base in northeast Utah, northwest Colorado and Wyoming.

“The acquisition of the propane assets of Western Petroleum is an historic one for Ferrellgas, because it gives us our first retail location in the state of Utah,” says Steve Wambold, Ferrellgas president and CEO, in a press release.

The acquisition is Ferrellgas’ fifth in its fiscal year that began Aug. 1, 2012, and follows its acquisition in March of barbecue tools provider Mr. Bar-B-Q. Terms of the deal with Western Petroleum were not disclosed.
