Fire, burn hazards force grill recall at Lowe’s

November 7, 2012 By

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Guangdong Vanward Electric Co. Ltd. of China are recalling Master Forge gas grills sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores. The grills are manufactured in China and priced at about $270.

According to a press release, about 37,000 of the grills are currently in circulation throughout the United States. If improperly installed, the hose connecting the gas tank and regulator to the burner control can touch the burner box, causing the hose to melt and rupture when the grill is lit. This poses a fire and burn hazard.

Guangdong Vanward is aware of two reports of hoses melting and rupturing. No injuries have been reported.
