Fluor to build petrochemical facilities for Dow Chemical

May 21, 2013 By

Fluor Corp. says it will build a propane dehydrogenation unit for the Dow Chemical Co. on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Fluor’s scope includes the engineering, procurement and construction of the propane dehydrogenation unit, an ethane cracker, and associated power, utilities and infrastructure facility upgrades to support each unit. The project, which will help Dow process hydrocarbons from domestic shale formations into petrochemical feedstocks, is planned for Dow’s Oyster Creek facility in Freeport, Texas. Fluor’s Sugar Land, Texas, office will lead the project with support from the company’s Asia Pacific operations.
