Former Enterprise Products Partners CEO joins Williams board

December 19, 2016 By

The Williams Cos. Inc. appointed Michael Creel, former CEO of Enterprise Products Partners, to its board of directors.

Creel served as Enterprise Products Partners’ CEO until his retirement in 2015. He held a few other leadership roles with Enterprise since he began working there in 1999, according to Williams. He previously served as group vice chairman at Epco Inc. and executive vice president and CFO at Duncan Energy Partners. Creel also plans to join the board of Suncor Energy as of Jan. 1, 2017, Williams adds.

Williams also named Charles Cogut as a new member of its board of directors. Cogut served as a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP from 1980 through 2012, Williams says. Both Creel and Cogut will stand for election to the board May 18, 2017, at Williams’ 2017 annual meeting of stockholders.

“Casey and Mike bring diverse expertise to our board,” says Alan Armstrong, president and CEO of Williams Co. “Casey is an incredibly talented adviser to boards of directors around the world, and his experience will be invaluable to Williams as we move forward. Mike has been a leader in the natural gas industry as the former CEO of Enterprise Products for many years, and Williams will benefit from his long track record of financial discipline and shareholder value creation.”
