Formosa teaming with ThyssenKrupp on propane dehydrogenation plant

November 28, 2014 By

Formosa Plastics is planning to build a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant at its petrochemical complex in Point Comfort, Texas, with support from ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions.

According to information from a ThyssenKrupp press release, Formosa will use ThyssenKrupp’s steam active reforming process for dehydrogenation of light hydrocarbons. The PDH plant, which will have the capacity to produce 545,000 tons of propylene per year, is part of the Point Comfort petrochemical complex expansion announced by Formosa in February 2012.

Formosa said it hopes to have the PDH plant online by 2017.
