April 2, 2009 By

Ted Johnson, founder and owner of Ted Johnson Propane in Baldwin Park, Calif., died on March 26. Johnson started the company in 1965 and was a longtime supporter and board member of the Western Propane Gas Association. In recent years, he passed the day-to-day operations to his daughter, Julie Cesena, who is the association’s current District 7 director, but he was still a constant presence at the office and at association events. In addition to his daughter, Johnson is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a second soon-to-be born great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 3 at the Hillside Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Downtown YMCA of Greater Long Beach in memory of Ted Johnson. Donations can be sent to the YMCA of Greater Long Beach, P.O. Box 90995, Long Beach, CA 90809. Notes of condolence can be sent to the family at Ted Johnson Propane, 5140 Elton St., Baldwin Park, CA 91706.
