Gas leak risk reason for recall of fireplaces, stoves, inserts and log sets

This Hearth & Home Technologies stove is one of the propane and natural gas products the company has recalled.

Hearth & Home Technologies is recalling, in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 20,000 propane and natural gas fireplaces, stoves, inserts and log sets because the valves in the units may leak, creating a fire hazard.

No injuries have been reported, the company says. The products were sold at fireplace stores from May through July of this year under the names Hearth & Home Technologies, Heat-N-Glo, Heatilator, Outdoor Lifestyle and Quadra Fire.

Hearth & Home Technologies is asking anyone who purchased the recalled units to stop using them immediately, turn off the gas to the units and contact the store where they bought them to arrange for a free inspection and, if necessary, a replacement valve.

Go here to see the brand names and serial numbers that are printed on the unit rating plate, located near the controls, and in the instruction manual.
