Good work gets noticed

July 28, 2017 By

Many people in business believe that the way to become successful is to find a way to be noticed. Is that working out for you?

While struggling to start a music career, Steve Chandler and a writing partner tried to get in front of important people; people who would notice them and buy their music. They traveled to many different parts of the country, met with music executives and attended all the right parties. None of it seemed to work. They spent precious time and money pursuing recognition but came up empty. Eventually, they were forced to stop and rethink their strategy. They decided to put all of their efforts into writing better songs. When the quality of their songs improved, the music producers discovered them.

Trying to be noticed by people who could potentially enhance their careers only caused them grief. Not only did they fail to impress potential customers, but they became pests to veteran business executives who try to avoid such people.

Achievement in business is not accomplished by using others, but by working on getting better at what we do. Whatever it is you do, get good at it. Your diligence will eventually place you in front of important people. When that happens, your work will be noticed.
