July 27, 2015 By

Hearth & Home Technologies recalled its Heat-N-Glo and Heatilator Corner Unit Series indoor gas fireplaces.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the back of the firebox on both products bows out, posing a fire hazard. There have been two reported incidents involving charring and minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The fireplaces, fueled by either propane or natural gas, come with tempered glass fronts. The fireplaces were sold between March 2008 and November 2014 for $3,500 to $5,000, respectively. The following model numbers were recalled:

  • LCOR-36TRB-IPI
  • RCOR-36TRB-IPI 2
  • GDCL41361
  • GDCR41361

Consumers of the product should stop using the gas fireplaces and contact the fireplace store where the unit was purchased to arrange for a free inspection and installation of a correction kit.
