Workshop focuses on best practices

January 30, 2009 By

Fourteen propane professionals from eight states participated in an industry education workshop on Jan. 8 at the Holiday Inn KCI Expo Center in Kansas City, Mo. The Missouri Propane Gas Association hosted the program, held in conjunction with one of the association’s HVAC training classes. The one-day workshop included attendees from Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Virginia. Each trainer provided an overview of his individual approach to providing safety instruction to industry personnel. The trainers came from diverse backgrounds, including association staff trainers and independent consultants. In a room filled with tanks, valves, piping and fittings from the HVAC class, the educators took turns giving their individual insights on promoting safety through industry education. In addition to sharing teaching techniques and curriculums, the group also explored the challenges of responding to state training regulations, opportunities for database management and legal implications of administering certification programs.
