Maryland school debuts first propane autogas bus in state

November 4, 2015 By

Anne Arundel County schools purchased the first propane autogas school bus in Maryland.

The school district purchased a Blue Bird Vision bus, which is equipped with a Ford 6.8-liter V10 engine and an autogas system manufactured by Roush CleanTech. According to Roush CleanTech, the bus went into operation for the 2015-16 school year, and it replaced an older diesel bus.

Sharp Energy installed an onsite autogas fueling station that holds up to 1,000 gallons of autogas. Roush CleanTech says the infrastructure can expand to 4,000 gallons if the need arises.

Jubb’s Bus Service Inc., which provides buses for schools in Anne Arundel and Howard counties, says the bus company plans to transition 20 percent of its 80-bus fleet to autogas in the future.
