Obama signs tax extenders bill that includes autogas provisions

December 19, 2014 By

President Barack Obama has signed legislation that extends two propane autogas-related tax credits through 2014.

The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) reported that important provisions benefiting the propane industry were included in the House of Representatives bill (H.R. 5771) – particularly the 50 cents-per-gallon fuel credit and the refueling infrastructure credit.

According to NPGA, the legislation passed with ease in both the House and Senate in December, and Obama enacted it into law Dec. 19.

The NPGA added that there is some uncertainty as to what Congress will do regarding the tax code in 2015. The NPGA reported it plans to work with policymakers to make sure the propane industry is treated fairly in any future tax debates.
