NPGA makes case against FERC rule

February 9, 2011 By

NPGA coordinated a grassroots effort against a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rule that would increase shipping rates on the pipeline. Since 2000, FERC has allowed pipelines to increase their shipping rates by a certain percentage tied to the Producer Price Index (PPI). The percentages have been revised every five years. At the end of last year, FERC adopted an index of PPI plus 2.65 percent, which was an increase from 1.3 percent that NPGA felt was unjustified. More than 800 letters were submitted during the comment period, NPGA said.
