Propane Resources surveyed 419 retail propane marketers from across the nation about their employee benefits. We received responses from 79 companies. Here is what they had to say:

Outcomes:

A majority of responding retailers (70 percent) are smaller companies with 6 – 20 employees. Fifty-seven percent report employees with an average tenure of 11 years or more. Sixty-six percent offer two weeks paid vacation; 22 percent offer three. Ninety-one percent offer healthcare to their employees; of these, 12 percent offer coverage to full- and part-time workers. Eighty-two percent of responding retailers extend coverage to spouses, and 13 percent of those extend coverage to dependents. Most (95 percent) offer paid time off for vacation and/or illness. Retirement plans and dental/orthodontic insurance were cited as benefits retailers would most like to add or are considering adding.
