Tank monitoring device recognized for its use of technology

August 28, 2014 By

A device that automatically records and transmits to a laptop, tablet or smartphone the amount of propane remaining in a commercial or residential tank earned its creator an M2M Evolution Business Impact Award.

Technology Assurance LabsOWL (Overhead Wireless Logic system) received recognition because it “successfully leveraged M2M (machine to machine) and the IoT (Internet of Things) to solve a business issue, launch a new service or create revenue opportunities,” according to award sponsors Crossfire Media and Technology Marketing Corp.

OWL offers the ability to send monthly usage invoices as well, to make it easy for propane retailers to provide a “pay as you go” service, says Ken Stauffer, co-founder of Technology Assurance Labs. It uses software with capabilities for maps, graphics, reporting and alerts.

Crossfire Media is a marketing company focused on future trends in technology. TMC publishes magazines for the communications and technology industries. The M2M Evolution Business Impact Award covers implementations across any vertical or application, including but not limited to retail, medical, transportation/fleet, smart energy, supply chain and more.
