The best ideas come away from the office

January 24, 2014 By and

Where were you the last time you had a great idea? Chances are it occurred when you were on vacation, in the shower or while you were driving. This according to business author Steve Chandler. Chandler advocates business owners select one day a week to get away from the office. His research shows that most of our high-return ideas come when we are away from the business. At work, we are often busy solving problems and putting out the fires that demand so much of our attention. When we are temporarily away from our jobs, our mind is free to create.

Business ideas can come from anywhere, but we often need to place ourselves outside of the business environment to discover them.

So why wait six months until your summer vacation? Take a vacation every week by taking a half-day or just a couple of hours and get away from the office. Doesn’t that sound like a good idea?
