ThompsonGas acquires Central Propane, L&L Propane

ThompsonGas subsidiaries ThompsonGas-Smokies LLC and ThompsonGas-Southeast acquired Central Propane Gas Co. of Smithfield, N.C., and L&L Propane of Red Bay, Ala. The transactions represent ThompsonGas’ 15th and 16th acquisitions since its founding in 1946. The company intends to operate the assets under existing trade names for the next 12 to 24 months. ThompsonGas is the 21st-largest propane retailer in the United States, according to LP Gas Magazine’s Top 50 listings.

In other company news, ThompsonGas made Baltimore SmartCEO magazine’s list of the Baltimore area’s fastest-growing companies. The Future 50 awards recognize 50 local companies based on their revenue and employee growth over a three-year period.

ThompsonGas serves nearly 150,000 customers in nine states and continues to expand its presence in the Southeast, the company said.
