ThompsonGas acquires two southern companies

October 6, 2011 By

ThompsonGas-Southeast, a subsidiary of ThompsonGas, acquired Cooperative Propane Inc., a subsidiary of Power South Energy Cooperative based in Andalusia, Ala., and Fox Gas of Foxworth, Miss. The purchases add about 6 million gallons of propane and $20 million in annual revenues to ThompsonGas’ portfolio. When the transactions are complete, the company will serve about 170,000 customers in 10 states. ThompsonGas says it has offered employment to current Cooperative and Fox employees, and Benny Gay of Cooperative will become regional vice president of Southeast operations. Since its founding in 1946, ThompsonGas has made 19 acquisitions, including eight of propane companies in 2010-11. It intends to operate the Cooperative and Fox assets under existing trade names for the next 12 to 24 months.
