Valero recalls 919,000 barrels of propane

Valero Marketing and Supply Co. is voluntarily recalling about 919,000 barrels of propane that may pose a fire risk to consumers. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the barrels might have fallen short of the recommended level of odorant. A Valero spokesman told the Oil Price Information Service that the barrels came from the company’s refineries in Memphis, Tenn., and Wilmington, Calif. The CPSC is advising consumers with propane purchased or delivered from Valero between January and October 2008 to contact their gas suppliers or retail locations for testing and to receive additional odorant as needed.
