Williams Partners acquires Canadian operations

March 3, 2014 By

Williams Partners LP completed a deal to acquire Williams’ Alberta, Canada, operations for $1.2 billion, the company announced. The assets include an oil sands off-gas processing plant near Fort McMurray, about 260 miles of NGL and olefins pipelines, as well as an NGL/olefins fractionation facility and butylene/butane splitter facility at Redwater. Williams Partners also acquired an in-progress expansion project at the Redwater facility. The expansion will provide additional fractionation business to Williams Partners related to development of off-gas processing at the CNRL Horizon upgrader facility retained by Williams. In other news, the company recently completed a truck rack expansion project at the NGL fractionator and storage facilities near Conway, Kan. The additional loading bay is helping to meet increased demand for propane this heating season, Williams says.
