Developed and manufactured by Safety Technologies, SAM safe air monitors protect forklift operators, floor polishers and operators of other industrial equipment against carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning by monitoring air quality and alerting workers of unsafe conditions. According to Safety Technologies, SAM uses an electrochemical sensor technology to calculate CO concentrations and alert equipment operators if CO levels exceed Occupational Safety and Health Administration limits. If unsafe air quality conditions exist, SAM will sound an alarm and if they persist, the system will automatically shut down equipment to prevent poisoning. The system displays and records engine hours, RPMs, service intervals and air-fuel ratios and logs the data on the device and transmits it to an app for analysis. The system can be factory installed on construction, cleaning and material-handling equipment, according to the company.
