Ihler was elected to the interim post by the company’s board of directors. Ihler succeeds Mark Fenner, who had served as president and CEO since 2014.

According to the company, Ihler will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the refined fuel, propane, Petro-Card 24, Break Time, Big O Tires and Jiffy Lube operations across an eight-state region.

“We appreciate the work Mark did for MFA Oil Co., and we wish him the best in future endeavors,” says Marion Kertz, MFA Oil board chairman. “Jon’s experience and tenure with MFA Oil will help lead the company through this period of transition.”

The MFA Oil board says it plans to start the process of finding a permanent replacement immediately.

Ihler joined MFA Oil in 2001 working in Big O Tires and Jiffy Lube management before moving to Colorado where he owned and operated his own franchised automotive business. Ihler returned to MFA Oil in 2006, serving as business development manager and director of sales and marketing. In 2014, Ihler was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, overseeing sales, marketing and distribution as well as APM, the dealer/wholesale company MFA Oil acquired in 2013.

Editor’s note: In August 2019, MFA Oil announced that its board of directors appointed Ihler as president and CEO. Ihler, who had been serving as interim CEO since April 25, 2019, is the fifth CEO in the cooperative’s 90-year history.
