PERC approves propane projects during conference call

March 12, 2019 By

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) met in February by conference call and approved the following three funding requests, with the primary partner in parenthesis where applicable.

⦁ $330,759 for the second phase of PERC’s digital strategy and enhancement, as it transforms and consolidates its digital platforms used to reach consumers – both homeowners and business users – and looks to better reach and support propane marketers and state associations (Swanson Russell)

⦁ $248,000 for a Marketer Can-Do Marketing Program, which aims to provide ongoing training for the propane industry so its employees, companies and state entities can create and manage a digital presence while using PERC-developed tools and resources

⦁ $125,000 to develop a single-fuel propane solution for refrigerated goods delivery segments so their medium duty fleets don’t have to mix fuels – propane to power the base truck and diesel to power the refrigeration unit (Roush CleanTech)

Also on the call, PERC discussed taking steps to form a new strategic plan. A task force composed of councilors and industry leaders will work to develop an updated three-year plan for the council to review and discuss ahead of the 2020 budget approval process. Part of the conference call discussion centered on how PERC will measure the success of its new plan.

“We can create propane uses and applications and put retailers in position to grow customers and gallons,” says councilor Daniel Dixon of AmeriGas.

The council also heard from Tina Wilson, its new senior vice president of communications. Wilson oversees PERC’s integrated communications and marketing strategy, which includes the “Propane Can Do That” campaign, industry communications, public relations and thought leadership.

“In the next 100 days, I’ll be listening and learning in my new role,” Wilson says. “I want to hear from you about how PERC can better serve you and the industry.”

Other topics discussed on the conference call included the new propane.com and an integrated marketing campaign, zero net energy, the forklift market, and training and certification initiatives.

PERC will meet April 12 in Atlanta, prior to the National Propane Gas Association’s Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo.
