Bergquist, EC Power partner to expand micro-CHP deployment across US

Bergquist Inc., a propane equipment distributor, has partnered with EC Power Inc. to accelerate deployment of micro combined heat and power (micro-CHP) systems across the United States.
Under the agreement, Bergquist will serve as a national distributor for EC Power’s XRGI 25 micro-CHP system. The company also plans to install two XRGI 25 units at its facilities for demonstration and training purposes.
The companies say the partnership is intended to address growing demand for on-site power generation, lower energy costs and increased grid resilience, particularly in commercial, institutional and propane-served markets.
Bergquist says the agreement expands its role beyond equipment distribution and positions the company to provide technical support and market development for micro-CHP technology. The initiative is designed to help propane dealers participate in the on-site power generation market while reducing engineering and execution risk.
“As the propane industry evolves, our customers are asking us to help them solve energy challenges that require proven, scalable technology supported by deep engineering expertise,” says Lauren Clark, president and CEO of Bergquist. “EC Power brings decades of real-world micro-CHP experience and a product platform that aligns naturally with propane-served markets. Just as importantly, they understand that CHP will not scale in the U.S. without a strong enablement model around dealers, training and lifecycle support.”
Propane dealers are often positioned to serve rural and grid-constrained areas and maintain long-standing customer relationships. The companies say the XRGI 25 system is designed for commercial and institutional applications and can benefit from established dealer networks and technical support.
“Bergquist is not treating micro‑CHP as a product they hand off to the market – they are actively building the technical, organizational and training capabilities required to support dealers and customers throughout the entire project lifecycle,” says Anders Thorsen, CEO of EC Power. “That commitment allows us to scale responsibly, maintaining performance, quality and customer confidence as volume grows. Together, we are combining proven technology with a purpose‑built, go‑to‑market engine that removes traditional barriers to CHP adoption and opens a large, underserved segment of the U.S. energy market.”
As part of the initiative, Bergquist has appointed Amy Berg to lead its newly formed marketer growth solutions team. The group will work with propane marketers interested in expanding into on-site energy services and will provide technical support for products such as the XRGI 25.
“More than 30 years ago, EC Power was founded on the belief that efficient, decentralized energy could play a meaningful role in the future energy landscape,” says Bjarne Bogner, founder and CEO of EC Power A/S. “Seeing that vision now extend into the U.S. market with a partner like Bergquist is something I am both proud of and encouraged by. Their commitment to building a structured and long-term market approach reflects the same values that have guided EC Power from the beginning.”
