CHP lineup

2G Energy offers a propane-fueled, continuous-duty power generation and combined heat and power (CHP) lineup. According to the company, it’s been engineered for propane applications – not simply adapted from natural gas platforms. Unlike many units designed primarily for natural gas, which may experience power derating whenever they operate on propane, 2G’s propane engines are built to deliver full-rated performance. Purpose-built design features, including propane-optimized pistons and combustion engineering, help maintain output, efficiency and reliability in demanding applications. When configured for CHP, the systems capture useful engine heat for facility heating, hot water or process loads, improving total fuel utilization and project economics. With modular packaging, integrated controls, emissions options and long-term service support, 2G provides propane customers a resilient, on-site power solution designed around their fuel, the company adds.

Weatherproof generator

Axiom Energy Group’s new 4.5-kW generator has been engineered to solve the challenges of remote power. Known as EnduraGen, the weatherproof generator can adapt to the demands of virtually any application, whether it’s providing continuous prime power or operating like a traditional generator. Powered by propane or natural gas and driven by the company’s Marathon engine, it delivers at least 40,000 hours of engine life with 6,000-hour maintenance intervals. Consequently, customers will have fewer truck rolls, lower maintenance costs, greater uptime and a lower total cost of ownership than traditional diesel-powered systems, according to the company. EnduraGen also offers a smarter, more reliable way to power remote telecom, rail, utility and industrial operations, the company adds.

Standby generators

Briggs & Stratton‘s new and improved PowerProtect+ standby generators have been designed to run on propane (LP) and natural gas (NG). As a result, they’re especially ideal for remote locations where LP is plentiful and NG may be hard to access, according to the company. One of the company’s generator offerings – the 26kW standby generator – was recently updated with 64 engineering advances, focused on quality and performance. The 26kW, along with the 22kW, 18kW and 13kW, now have a front exhaust, which blows heat and fumes away from buildings. Furthermore, the 26kW has 19 percent more motor starting power than the leading competitor, leading to a smooth startup of large equipment, the company adds.

Microturbine

Capstone Energy+’s C65 microturbine provides a compact, propane-compatible solution that’s well suited for several applications, including farms, commercial buildings and convenience stores. Rated at 65 kW, the C65 is ideal for propane retailers looking to expand into distributed generation, according to the company. It’s also suitable for sites that can use both electricity and recovered thermal energy, as it delivers up to 90 percent combined heat and power efficiency, the company says. Furthermore, its air-bearing design eliminates the need for oil or coolant, leading to lower maintenance requirements than traditional generators. Operating on 400 to 480 volts of alternating current, three-phase power, the C65 fits a relatively small footprint, as it’s roughly 30 in. wide by 77 in. deep, the company adds. It’s available in grid-connect or dual-mode configurations.

Dual-fuel generators

Dragon Products manufactures 400 kW propane-powered generators from its Beaumont, Texas, factory. According to the company, its generators are trailerized, factory-ready and dual-fuel: propane and natural gas. They’re also common for bridge power, rental service and data centers. By using larger numbers of this smaller generator, customers will notice some key advantages, including broader compliance with emission regulations, shorter lead times than large sizes (now at two to six years) and lower costs per kW, the company notes. Current delivery is six months from order placement. A 60-year, Texas-based, family-owned and veteran manufacturer of gas products, Dragon has 20 U.S. factory locations. It also manufactures Porta Paks and storage tanks in Provo, Utah.
