TrackAbout, a cylinder inventory management and tracking platform from New Jersey-based Datacor, received the Innovation Category Award for Safety and Product Quality at the World Liquid Gas Association’s Global Technology Conference, held during Liquid Gas Week 2026 in Istanbul.

TrackAbout was recognized for its entry, “AI-Driven Vision Technology for Cylinder Identification: A New Approach to LPG Asset Management,” which Elizabeth Wallace, vice president of product of TrackAbout at Datacor, presented Oct. 13.

“This recognition underscores what becomes possible when AI is built for the realities of running LPG operations,” says Wallace.

The entry describes software that uses artificial intelligence to read serial numbers, manufacturer marks, test dates and other markings stamped on liquefied petroleum gas, or LPG, cylinders from photos. The company says the technology can speed cylinder registration by as much as three times. Operators can register cylinders from photos in the TrackAbout mobile app, and high-volume operations can scan full pallets with fixed cameras. Each capture produces a time-stamped visual record that distributors can use in audits and in disputes over cylinder ownership, location or status.

The company says customers have reported recovering 25 percent of lost revenue in previously unaccounted assets within the first year and cutting daily return processing time by as much as 75 percent. TrackAbout manages cylinder inventories ranging from 5,000 to more than 1.5 million, the company says.

“Distributors can add this value to support the barcode and RFID systems they’ve already invested in,” says Wallace. “The working capital recovered from fewer lost cylinders, and the lower cost of managing each one, can fund fleet expansion, new technology and entry into new markets.”
