Companies launch South Carolina Independent Propane Providers website

March 10, 2025 By

A group of independent and family-owned propane companies from South Carolina launched the South Carolina Independent Propane Providers (SCIPP) website.

SCIPP will work to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of the independent propane provider community in the Palmetto State, according to the website. It will also work to promote what the independent providers are doing at the local, state and regional level to create jobs and support economic growth.

“The independent propane providers of South Carolina find ourselves at a crossroads in 2025 as we face many important issues and opportunities,” says Reagan Bonnette of Stringer Oil and LP Gas. “It is critical that the family owned, small businesses in our industry come together and be engaged so that future generations can continue to provide reliable, clean energy for our state.”

According to Bonnette, the SCIPP website will serve not as an independent association, but as a marketing resource for all South Carolina’s propane providers – many of whom are family-owned businesses facing increased economic pressure and an uncertain future given the expanding role that federal and state governments are playing, the organization adds in a news release. Bonnette hopes for South Carolina propane companies to work together in conjunction with the Southeast Propane Alliance and National Propane Gas Association to advance the industry in the state.

The effort will also actively promote the many positive things the group is doing across the state and region – including recent efforts to assist residents in western North Carolina as they recover from catastrophic storm damage and flooding. The SCIPP will also act to promote the growth of industry as the United States looks to increase the domestic supply of reliable, clean energy sources.

“Our state has been lacking in involvement, so putting this website together was not only hope for showcasing who we are and what we do, but also [to] help other independents in the state see the benefit in coming together, how important that is and how beneficial getting involved in our organizations like the Southeast Propane Alliance and National Propane Gas Association are,” says Bonnette. “We can have a voice now, no matter how small the company. This came together to try to ensure we can continue to grow gallons, create jobs and expand opportunities, especially for those in the rural areas. We have such deep roots here in South Carolina; we want to make sure the next generation can take these great companies to the next level.”
