Dead River Co. purchases home-heating portion of Cheshire Oil Co.

October 11, 2018 By

Dead River Co., a home-heating company headquartered in South Portland, Maine, purchased the home-heating portion of Cheshire Oil Co. of Keene, New Hampshire.

“It was important to us to find a company that believes in putting customers and community first. As a 109-year-old family-owned business, Dead River Co. has an outstanding reputation for caring about their customers, employees and the communities it serves,” Cheshire Oil says in a letter to its customers.

Cheshire Oil has served the Monadnock region of New Hampshire for 97 years. Dead River Co., a retailer of propane and heating oil, will now take over Cheshire Oil’s home-heating operations.

“As we continue to expand our business through acquisitions in New England, we do so with an eye toward companies that share our values of integrity, caring and excellence,” says Deanna Sherman, Dead River Co. president and CEO. “We found those shared values in Cheshire Oil.”
