EDP acquires Green Propane and Summit Propane
EDP purchased Green Propane and its sister company, Summit Propane.
With headquarters in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, this latest acquisition – EDP’s 40th – strengthens EDP’s footprint in southeastern Pennsylvania and increases its presence in the Poconos.
Chicago-based EDP is a rapidly growing company with experience in retail and commercial propane sales, operations and finance. The company provides propane service to residential and commercial customers in 23 states.
Both Green Propane and Summit Propane have been owned by Todd Walker. The company’s employees – with a combined 90-plus years of propane experience – have all joined EDP.
“As I considered my plans for retirement, I wanted to be confident my employees would be well cared for and my customers would continue to receive safe, friendly and reliable service,” says Walker. “Those are the key reasons I chose EDP, and I am confident I made the right choice.”
“We are very pleased with Todd’s decision to choose EDP when it came time for him to retire,” says Thomas Knauff, CEO of EDP. “Each of his companies has established a solid reputation over the years, and we are committed to continuing to take good care of their customers and remain active in their local communities.
“Our acquisition of Green Propane and Summit Propane, our 40th, is a new milestone for EDP,” adds Knauff. “We are so pleased that 40 business owners have chosen EDP over the years when it came time to transition their businesses.”
EDP is actively seeking to expand its national footprint and diversify through the addition of new retail propane and light fuels operations. The company pursues a long-term strategy of purchasing and partnering with successful operations in propane and other fuels, retaining the brand name, preserving the employees in place and providing excellent customer service while maintaining involvement in the local communities.
