Ferrellgas acquisition to complement Blue Rhino business

Ferrellgas has purchased Mr. Bar-B-Q, a provider of barbecue tools, accessories and parts that’s headquartered in Old Bethpage, N.Y. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

“As we marry the Mr. Bar-B-Q brand with Blue Rhino, consumers will be able to exchange for our tanks at the front of the store and then find our propane-powered products and barbecue accessories elsewhere in that same store,” says Steve Wambold, Ferrellgas president and CEO.

Wambold admits Mr. Bar-B-Q doesn’t represent the typical Ferrellgas acquisition, but he says the tools, accessories and parts provider’s products fit nicely into Ferrellgas’ portfolio.
