New York-based Paraco Gas is fueling the propane needs of a new indoor water park in the Catskill Mountains.

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, located in Monticello, New York, opened last April with 324 all-suite accommodations; an indoor entertainment center including arcade, mini-bowling and ropes course; seven restaurants and bars; a spa; and an 11,000-sq.-ft. conference center.

Dubbed the state’s biggest indoor water park – extending over 2 acres and 80,000 sq. ft. – the Kartrite boasts an indoor air temperature of 84 degrees year-round.

Without propane, says Talya Regan, director of marketing at the resort and water park, “We would be really cold. We wouldn’t be the Kartrite. We wouldn’t be who we are because we’re able to offer such a warm, fun environment year-round.”

In addition to fueling the summer-like air temperature, propane is used to heat the park’s water and meet other domestic needs throughout the resort. This includes fuel for showers and baths, the resort’s seven eateries and bars, and its indoor and outdoor fireplaces.

During high-demand periods, Paraco Gas can deliver upwards of 20,000 gallons of propane to the resort per week, says Jeff Palen, general manager at the propane marketer.

“Considering the fact that our entire company is built off of propane, we need that close relationship,” Regan says of doing business with Paraco. “They’ve been there no matter what we need.”
