Matrix team grows with four promotions, four new hires

Matrix Capital Markets Group Inc., an independent middle-market investment bank, made four promotions in its Downstream Energy & Convenience Retail Investment Banking Group and added four new team members.

The company promoted Sean Dooley to managing director. He has helped advise on nearly 40 successful transactions since joining Matrix in 2010. Dooley holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. He is also recognized as an accredited senior appraiser in business valuation by the American Society of Appraisers.

Martin McElroy Jr. was promoted to senior associate. Before joining the firm in 2017, McElroy received a bachelor’s of science in business administration from the University of Richmond with a major in accounting and a concentration in finance. He holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Nathan Wah and John Mickelinc were both promoted to associates. Prior to joining Matrix in 2019, Wah received a bachelor’s of science in business administration with concentrations in both finance and accounting, and graduated cum laude from Villanova University. He holds the Certified Public Accountant designation.

Mickelinc now holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. He has been with the firm since 2018. He received his bachelor’s of science in both finance and marketing, and graduated summa cum laude from Le Moyne College.

The company hired Maggie Gerhardt as director of compliance. She was previously a compliance officer with Dimensional Fund Advisors. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and master’s of business administration from St. Edward’s University.

Also new to the company, Jessica Cookmeyer, has joined the firm as a marketing coordinator. Prior to Matrix, she was a marketing coordinator with Lakewood Retirement Community. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Longwood University and master’s degree in strategic communications and advertising from Liberty University.

Sahan Pandey and Alex Harper were both hired as analysts. Pandey joins Matrix’s Consumer & Industrial Investment Banking Group and was previously a financial planning analyst at Markel Corp. He received a bachelor’s degree in statistics with a concentration in econometrics from the University of Virginia. He has passed Level 1 of the CFA.

Harper joins Matrix’s Downstream Energy & Convenience Retail Investment Banking Group. Prior to joining Matrix, Harper graduated from Washington and Lee University and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
