MFA Oil Co., a farmer-owned energy supply cooperative, purchased the propane and refined fuel operations of Griffin Oil & Propane, an independent retailer based in southeast Missouri. The deal includes offices in Deering, Missouri, and Portageville, Missouri, trucks, tanks, employees and customer accounts.

“We are very excited to add the new team members from Griffin Oil & Propane to our staff,” says Kenny Steeves, senior vice president of MFA Oil operations. “We look forward to incorporating their talents into our current resources to bolster our efforts in the Missouri Bootheel region.”

MFA Oil continues to evaluate strategic acquisition opportunities in its existing market areas and other regions where it can expand its footprint, according to the company.

Joe King, co-owner and managing partner of Griffin Oil & Propane, adds: “When we decided to pass the torch, we wanted to ensure our employees and customers would be in good hands. MFA Oil is best positioned to provide the high level of care our customers expect.”

MFA Oil Co., formed in 1929, is a farmer-owned cooperative with more than 40,000 members. The company ranked No. 9 in the U.S. for retail propane gallon sales, according to the 2022 LP Gas Top Propane Retailers ranking.

The company supplies fuels, lubricants and propane to customers in Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Through a subsidiary, MFA Oil operates Break Time convenience stores in Missouri and a Big O Tires franchise in Missouri and Arkansas.
