MFA Oil buys propane assets of Simmons Foods

September 10, 2020 By

Simmons Foods divested its propane business to MFA Oil Co.

Simmons Energy Solutions is a small propane supply company with locations in Decatur, Arkansas, and Jay, Oklahoma. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

“As a food company, we have determined that propane operations are outside of our core business,” says David Jackson, COO of Simmons Foods. “We are confident that we leave our customers in good hands with MFA Oil, and we will work together to ensure a seamless transition process.”

MFA Oil plans to extend job offers to the majority of the propane business’ employees, says Jackson.

“We believe their business approach and culture is a good fit for our valued customers and team members,” Jackson adds.

MFA Oil is a farmer-owned cooperative headquartered in Columbia, Missouri. It has provided fuels, propane and other petroleum products to customers since 1929. MFA Oil is the seventh-largest propane retailer by gallon sales, according to the LP Gas Top Propane Retailer rankings. The company reported sales of 108 million gallons in 2019.
