MTankCo Supply in Southaven, Mississippi, celebrates Terry Smith as he retires on Jan. 31.

Smith contributed more than 40 years of service to the industry and shared his expertise on LP gas equipment throughout his tenure at MTankCo. Although he is excited to move on to the next chapter of his life, Smith will be missed by all the customers and coworkers he helped along the way, the company says.

MTankCo Supply started as McCarson Wholesale Supply in the late 1950s out of a small building behind a house in Walls, Mississippi. In April 1981, Minor and Terry Smith took over ownership of the company, operating out of the same small building as Smith’s LP Supply Co.

Smith later moved and expanded the business to Southaven, Mississippi. In 2013, Mississippi Tank Co. acquired the business. Smith played a major role in inside sales and office management with the newly formed MTankCo Supply and helped it grow to the business it is today.

“He is definitely going to be missed because of his technical knowledge, relationships and ability to get things done,” says Matt Rannou, sales and marketing manager at MTankCo. “It will be tough to fill his shoes, and [we] can only hope to learn a fraction of what he knows.”

MTankCo is a division of Mississippi Tank Co., which lends more than 65 years of experience in the propane and other compressed gas industries. They manufacture tanks for trucks, transports and storage facilities and offer services such as tests, inspections and repairs.
