Honors, promotions, new hires: October 2007

Blossman Gas

Blossman Gas has appointed Randall R. (Randy) Doyle as vice president and chief financial officer. Doyle has more than 25 years of experience in the propane industry. Much of that experience was with Mapco, the parent company of Thermogas. An active member of the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), he was the principal organizer of the NPGA’s benchmarking practice (Marketer’s Management Forum).

South Carolina Propane Gas Association

The South Carolina Propane Gas Association has selected its slate of officers and directors for 2007-08.

Latt Honeycutt, of Freeman Gas Co. in Spartanburg, is president, and Lane Wise, of Petroleum Tank Corp. in Johnston, is the first vice president. Donald Alford, of The Jerry Cox Co. in Conway, is second vice president, and Richard O’Sheal, of Ridge LP Gas in Leesville, is treasurer. Brian Bachert, of Blue Flame Gas in Mount Pleasant, was named District 1 director, and George Smith, of Freeman Gas Co. in Spartanburg, is District 3 director.

Virginia Propane Gas Association

The Virginia Propane Gas Association has named its leadership team for 2007-2008.

It includes: president, John Holland of Heritage Propane; president elect, Tim Spicer of Tiger Fuel; treasurer, John McKenzie of Woodgate Petroleum; and secretary, Brian Atwood of Parker Oil.

Directors include: Stan Hoffmann, Targa Resources; Tom Krupa, Suburban Propane; Herschel Mickles, Southwest Virginia Gas Service Corp.; Bill Murphy, Valley Energy; John Olivo, AmeriGas; Joe Pennesi, Quarles Energy Services; Tucker Perkins, Inergy; Carlton Revere, Revere Gas & Appliance; Ray Atkins, Atkins Propane; and Bill Bigham of Kinetic Resources.

Arizona Propane Gas Association

The Arizona Propane Gas Association has selected its officers and board members for 2007-2009. They include: Lisa Gerwitz, of Plains Marketing LP in Dewey, as second-term president, and Douglas Mann, of Semstream Arizona in Payson, as vice president. Mike Best, of Heritage Propane, ServiGas in Tucson will be secretary/treasurer.

Joining the board of directors are: Steve Fernandez, Plains LPG Services in Waddell; Ken Ford, West Valley Propane in El Mirage; Rod Jones, AmeriGas Propane in Glendale; Brad Kelly, R&W Supply in Tempe; Mike Kinney, Heritage Propane in Camp Verde; Dennis Owens, Owens Energy in Show Low; Bruce Thompson, PT Risk Management in Phoenix; and Mike Leptuch, Ferrellgas in Phoenix.

New Jersey Propane Gas Association

The New Jersey Propane Gas Association announces its recipients of this year’s accolades. Martin “Pete” Struble of Eastern Propane Corp. in Oak Ridge, N.J., received the New Jersey Propane Gas Association’s Manager of the Year Award. Struble was appointed manager of fleet services at Eastern Propane in 1994.

The group named Carol Felano of Eastern Propane as the Office Person of the Year. She was recognized for her innovative, positive and dedicated work for the company. Her efforts helped Eastern Propane win awards from the Community Builders Association and The Employers Association of New Jersey.

The association recognized Michael “Mike” Gwaldis as the Cylinder Driver of the Year. The employee of Propane Power Corp. in Newark, N.J., was lauded for his safety record and productivity.

The association’s Service Person of the Year is Toby Boerner of Precision Propane in Franklin, N.J. Boerner was recognized for his dedication to safety, not only for fellow workers but also the customers and the general public.

NGL Supply

Dave and Ann Payne, second-generation owners of Propane Central, have become employees of NGL Supply Inc. following that company’s acquisition of their family business. The Paynes will remain with the company to provide acquisition and operational expertise. Dave Payne is a former president of the Kansas Propane Gas Association.

Likewise, Bud and Ada O’Brien, second-generation owners of Brantley Gas & Appliance, will remain with the company following its acquisition by NGL Supply.

Liberty Propane

Tawnya Woolery has joined Liberty as a business analyst in Liberty’s corporate office in Overland Park, Kan. She will be assisting and preparing business valuations for prospective acquisition candidates and will participate in on-site business and financial due-diligence activities.
