Education through experience

Although he didn’t attend college, Martinez acquired several problem-solving and technical skills as a high school student. From there, he had extensive hands-on experience in the automotive, transportation, logistics and alternative fuel industries.

A deep understanding of autogas

Martinez began his propane career roughly 10 years prior to starting Precise, while assembling propane autogas systems. Through this hands-on role, he acquired a deep understanding of the technical aspects of alternative fuel systems.

Filling a unique gap

As Martinez prepared for the next chapter of his career in 2020, his close friends challenged him to start his own venture. With their encouragement, his deep experience in propane autogas systems and his wife’s support, he filled “a unique gap in the industry,” via Precise.

“Precise operates independently, focusing on what I know works – delivering reliable, sustainable autogas solutions with long-term, organic growth in mind. Our mission is to provide fleet operators with tailored, innovative services that prioritize efficiency and independence, unencumbered by external affiliations.”

Celebrating milestones

Since 2022, Precise has achieved several milestones that showcase its commitment to advancing propane autogas as a sustainable and reliable fleet solution. For instance, it has deployed two rounds of propane-powered police vehicles in North Carolina and established two standalone autogas stations in Volusia County, Florida, ensuring propane is more accessible for its county fleets.

“A key highlight has been the growing trust from propane companies, who increasingly partner with us to service their autogas-powered vehicles and integrate new ones into their fleets. These achievements – built on our independent approach and dedication to innovation – mark steady progress toward transforming the autogas landscape within our industry.”

Wearing many hats

As Precise’s founder, Martinez “wears many hats” to “drive [his] mission forward,” from inventory management and market research, to marketing, sales and training. He also oversees a dedicated, growing team of four employees.

Martinez has witnessed his customer base multiply, too, as he has roughly 100 autogas customers in eight states and Washington, D.C.

A passion for autogas

While looking ahead, Martinez believes his passion for autogas “is at an all-time high today.” Stressing that “when your work is fun, it’s not work at all,” he especially loves to solve complex problems and deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions to his customers’ fleets.

“At Precise, we’ve developed proprietary systems [our “secret sauce”] that go beyond standard conversions – pushing the boundaries of what autogas can achieve. This constant innovation keeps me energized and committed to driving the industry forward.”

Increasing autogas usage

To increase autogas adoption, Precise has been tailoring its approach to transportation sectors’ wide-ranging needs, including propane company fleets and external industries like delivery, HVAC and municipal services. Since “autogas isn’t a universal solution,” Precise employs targeted sales strategies for every vertical while focusing on each one’s “unique operational and cost-saving priorities.”

With regard to propane company fleets, Precise emphasizes turnkey installations and reliable service partnerships, which, in turn, “enhances their autogas capabilities.” When it comes to external fleets, he’s dedicated to highlighting propane’s cost-effectiveness, environmental benefits and domestic availability, all while “collaborating with propane retailers to ensure seamless fuel supply.”

Embracing family time

When Martinez isn’t overseeing Precise, he can typically be found with his wife, Rachel (who assists him with Precise’s administrative tasks), and two children.

“I love taking family trips to the Appalachian Mountains, too, and enjoying peaceful outdoor time with them.”
