Rhoads Energy acquires Solanco Propane and Heating
Rhoads Energy, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, purchased Solanco Propane and Heating, which serves customers in southern Lancaster and Chester counties and Cecil County, Maryland.
The transaction expands Rhoads Energy’s fuel delivery territory and means, for the first time in its 106-year history, the company will serve customers in Maryland. Rhoads Energy will also expand services to offer propane, heating oil and diesel fuel to both commercial and residential customers throughout Cecil County.
Rhoads Energy plans to immediately rebrand the previous company. Customers also will gain immediate access to Rhoads Energy’s customer services, including online account access, automatic delivery, automatic payments, budget billing and text notifications.
“We’re excited about bringing our flexible, customer-focused approach to Cecil County,” says Michael DeBerdine, CEO of Rhoads Energy. “Our aim is to give homeowners in the area a better option for high-quality service at competitive prices.”
Jennifer Goldbach, a long-time Rhoads Energy employee, will lead the customer acquisition effort in the new service area. Goldbach has worked and volunteered in Cecil County for more than two decades. She relocated to the area in 2020.
Rhoads Energy, founded in Quarryville in southern Lancaster County, says the move south into Cecil County is a natural progression, and many Cecil County businesses and homeowners will already be familiar with the Rhoads Energy brand.
Rhoads Energy, founded in 1917, offers fuel delivery, fleet fueling and more. Its Pennsylvania service territory includes a large swath of south-central Pennsylvania. The company says it has experienced continuous growth, both organically and through a series of acquisitions, over the past two decades. It serves tens of thousands of customers every year.
