The graduates are:

  • Garrett Smith, an employee at Dixie LP Gas. His exceptional performance in the course demonstrates his readiness to take on the role of a proficient service technician.
  • Skye Marchman, a former fuel delivery specialist in the Army, completed the course with honors and anticipates her husband’s return from a combat deployment so they can both pursue opportunities in the propane industry.
  • Andy Reyes, a retired combat engineer in the Navy, plans to apply his military background and skills gained in the course to make a meaningful contribution to a propane company.
  • Wesley Wilkinson, an experienced propane professional from North Carolina, attended the classes to enhance his knowledge and industry certifications, signaling his readiness to take on greater responsibilities within the propane sector.

“The 2024 Summer Term Service Technician students were a pleasure to host, educate and watch excel as they diligently navigated through the course material and all training requirements to earn six propane industry certifications,” says John Peña, SEPATEC’s director of education. “Though a small class, this group was special, consisting of two former military service members, a current propane employee and a former propane employee who took advantage of our comprehensive courses to become a better asset to his next propane employer.”

The next Propane Service Technician Course at the facility will begin on Sept. 23 for the fall term.

SEPATEC, an institution for propane technical education in Graham, North Carolina, provides comprehensive training and industry-relevant skill development to individuals seeking a career in the propane industry. The facility spans more than 10,000 sq. ft. and is outfitted with training aids and equipment. SEPATEC was established by the members of the Southeast Propane Alliance (SEPA).

SEPA was founded in 2021 to promote, protect and encourage the growth of the LP gas industry in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Collectively, these three states account for a combined total of 687 million gallons of propane, according to the association.
