ThompsonGas buys propane assets of Redwood Coast Fuels

ThompsonGas, headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, acquired the propane operations of Redwood Coast Fuels in northwestern California.

“We are pleased to add Redwood Coast Fuels propane customers to the ThompsonGas family,” says Jeff Kerns, CEO of ThompsonGas. “The Redwood Coast Fuels propane division presents a unique opportunity to expand the northwest California operations of our established branches throughout the area.”

This acquisition expands ThompsonGas’ presence in the Northwest. In the region last year, the company acquired All American Propane (Yakima, Washington), APP Propane (Tacoma, Washington) and Laytonville Gas (Laytonville, California).

“The ability to add such a well-run company into our current operations located in the Ukiah, Laytonville, Fort Bragg and Lower Lake communities in California adds value to all of our ThompsonGas customers,” says Jim Davis, COO. “We are excited to continue to expand our territory in northwest California.”

Redwood Coast Fuels was advised by The Joseph Hale Co. in Houston.

“One of my objectives was to find an organization prepared to continue to develop the reputation and local talent base that we have built up through three generations since 1951,” says Nick Barbieri, owner and managing partner of Redwood Coast Fuels. “Our family has been privileged to serve the Northern California energy market starting with my grandfather, Peter Barbieri; my father, Bob; and now myself. We believe the ThompsonGas team will continue to uphold that legacy.”

ThompsonGas now serves more than 200,000 customers in 20 states.
