Upstart Power brings fuel cell backup generator to market

Upstart Power, a developer and manufacturer of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power systems for backup power and distributed generation, reached a milestone with its latest SOFC systems with the delivery of more than 1,000 complete on/off cycles. Using propane or natural gas, Upgen SOFC generators provide backup or supplemental power when grid power is unavailable or renewable resources are insufficient. Upgen systems are currently in phase two trials at several customer sites in North America. Upstart plans to commercially launch its Upgen NXG product in mid-2023 and to scale shipments through 2024 and beyond.
