How did you get your start in the propane industry?

Before entering the propane industry, I worked in the sporting goods industry. My journey into propane began through networking, which led to my first role as a customer service representative. Over the past nine years, I’ve been fortunate to gain experience in a variety of roles, including dispatching, operations, sales, consulting and customer service. This diverse background has given me a comprehensive understanding of managing propane operations.

How do you help lead your company in your current role?

I am deeply committed to being a dependable and supportive leader for my team. I lead by staying closely connected to operations, making adjustments as needed to meet business objectives and ensuring the team has the resources and support they need to feel empowered and succeed. I understand that my approach as a leader directly influences team morale. I take pride in solving problems to enhance the experience for both our customers and employees. I am also dedicated to regular training and continuous improvement as key drivers of growth and success.

What change would you like to see to the propane industry to ensure its success?

When it comes to changes in the propane industry, I’d like to see a stronger focus on hiring and training new talent. With an aging workforce, it’s crucial to engage and develop skilled employees to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of our industry.

What does your generation offer to the propane industry that previous generations did not?

My generation brings a fresh perspective on prioritizing employee well-being, with a renewed emphasis on safety and doing things the right way. We recognize that investing in people and fostering a positive workplace culture is key to long-term success. Additionally, we are leveraging technology not only to enhance safety, improve efficiency and drive profitability but also to streamline operations and create innovative solutions that position the industry for future growth.

What specific technologies are you using (or plan to use) to support business operations?

We’re excited to embrace technology to support our initiatives and improve operations. For example, we use tank monitoring systems to ensure our customers always have gas while optimizing routing for greater efficiency. Our safety compliance software ensures that leak checks and gas system inspections are not only documented but done so accurately. Additionally, we’ve implemented fleet safety software to help keep our drivers safe on the road. As technology continues to evolve, I’m optimistic about the future of our industry and the opportunities it brings for innovation and growth.

What propane industry associations are you involved with at the state and/or national level?

In previous roles, I was actively involved in various industry associations. Now that I’m part of the team here in Florida, I’m excited to participate in Florida Propane Gas Association events in 2025 to stay informed about industry developments, particularly those relevant to the state of Florida.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself, your company and/or the propane industry?

Thermotane Propane has been proudly serving customers since 1947 and is now under the leadership of our third-generation owner. I have the privilege of working alongside an incredible team of seasoned propane experts. It’s an honor to serve as COO and to be recognized as a Rising Leader this year. As I reflect on my time in the propane industry thus far, I feel very grateful to have worked with and manage exceptional individuals who have played a significant role in shaping my journey. I lead with passion and dedication, pouring my heart into ensuring my team feels supported and takes pride in their work.
