Blue Flame Gas acquires Proctor Gas
Blue Flame Gas Co., based in Hoosick Falls, New York, acquired Proctor, Vermont-based Proctor Gas. Blue Peak Resources, a mergers and acquisitions consulting firm, orchestrated the sale.
About Proctor Gas
Proctor Gas has served the Addison, Rutland, Bennington and Windsor counties of Vermont since 1966. The company was founded by Match Taranovich, who purchased the propane and appliance division of Proctor Coal Co. from George D. Johnson.
At the time, Taranovich was working as a sales manager for the coal company. With the support and encouragement of his wife, Ella, and their son, Jimmy, he decided to branch out on his own.
Taranovich and his wife ran Proctor Gas together. While Taranovich led operations and customer service, Ella managed the finances, all while working full time elsewhere to help support the business. Jimmy Taranovich would help with the business after school.
“Selling my business was a deeply personal and emotional decision,” says Judy Taranovich, president and owner of Proctor Gas, as well as wife of the late Jimmy Taranovich. “I couldn’t have asked for a better partner than the team at Blue Peak Resources throughout this process. I am incredibly grateful for their expertise, integrity and dedication; their guidance instilled confidence in me every step of the way, and I am thrilled with the outcome. Choosing to work with someone I trust made all the difference.”
Blue Peak Resources acted as the facilitator and negotiator in the sale of Proctor Gas. The team provided financial valuations, prepared a business offering package for potential buyers and assisted in negotiations to finalize the deal terms.
John Armentano, partner at Blue Peak Resources, acknowledged Judy Taranovich’s efforts over the years.
“She has skillfully continued her late husband Jimmy’s legacy while establishing her reputation in our industry,” he says. “With many buyers to choose from, her decision to select Blue Flame was excellent. Andrew [Liporace] and the Liporace family’s strong commitment to the communities they serve aligns perfectly with Judy’s values.”
