Mountain Line Transit Authority to showcase first-ever propane autogas buses

Mountain Line Transit Authority, a publicly supported and funded transportation system serving Monongalia County, West Virginia, will showcase its new low-cost, near-zero-emission propane buses equipped with Roush CleanTech propane autogas technology at an event Sept. 17 in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Roush CleanTech says the showcase highlights a shift in the transit industry toward clean, affordable and sustainable alternative fuels. Attendees will have the opportunity to ride in one of Mountain Line’s propane vehicles.

Vehicles that run on propane autogas emit fewer greenhouse gases, smog-producing hydrocarbons and particulate emissions than gasoline or diesel, according to Roush CleanTech. Mountain Line’s paratransit buses are 90 percent cleaner in nitrogen oxides than the Environmental Protection Agency’s most stringent emission standard.

Participants in the event include Mountain Line Transit, Roush CleanTech, the Propane Education & Research Council, Ferrellgas, West Virginia University and the West Virginia Propane Gas Association.

The event will feature Maria Smith of Mountain Line Transit Authority, Mountain Line Transit Authority Board Chair Jenny Dinsmore, state Sen. Mike Oliverio, Brian Raygor of Ferrellgas and Randy Veenhoven of Roush CleanTech as speakers.
