Blossman Gas acquires R.D. White & Sons

Blossman Gas Inc. of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, acquired R.D. White & Sons Inc. of Shallotte, North Carolina.

Cetane Associates, which announced the sale, served as the sole arranger to R.D. White & Sons on a transaction that closed March 31.

R.D. White & Sons is the oldest, continuously operated family business in Brunswick County, dating back to the early 1900s when Franklin Pierce White founded Shallotte’s first country store and helped shape local trade and fuel access, according to Cetane.

The company formally entered the fuel business in the 1920s under Rufus “Rupe” White and later expanded into propane in the 1960s, building the foundation for today’s operations. Now in its fifth generation of family leadership, R.D. White & Sons has maintained a strong reputation for reliability, community connection and customer care, Cetane adds.

“This was not a decision we took lightly, given the responsibility of carrying forward a business that has been in our family for five generations,” says R.D. White & Sons owner Robby White Sr. “It was important to us to find someone who would respect and continue that legacy. Blossman Gas is an excellent fit to carry that forward for our employees and customers. We’re also sincerely grateful to Joe [Rosengrant] and the Cetane team for their guidance and professionalism throughout the process.”

Blossman Gas serves customers across 19 states throughout the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. Founded in 1951 by Woodrow “Woody” Blossman, the company is now led by its third generation of family ownership, with 85 locations and thousands of customers.

“We’re proud to welcome R.D. White & Sons to the Blossman Gas family,” says Blossman Gas President Stuart Weidie. “They bring a long history and the same multi-generational values that align with our own. We’re excited to carry that forward while continuing to serve their customers with the same exceptional care and attention they deserve.”

Cetane advised on the sale, including an initial valuation opinion, marketing the business through a confidential process, assisting in negotiating the final deal terms and coordinating the due diligence process. Team members Joe Rosengrant, Ford DuBose, Jack McMurchie, Dalton Brooks and Grant Su managed the transaction.

“It was truly an honor to work with Robby and his family,” Rosengrant says. “Assisting with the sale of a company with such a rich history is always something special. We wish Robby and his family nothing but the very best in the next chapter of their journey.”
