EDP acquires Pennsylvania retailer ProGas

September 27, 2021 By

Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) acquired ProGas, which serves more than 3,500 customers throughout the greater Pittsburgh area from offices in Aliquippa and Zelienople, Pennsylvania.

ProGas was launched in 2000 and provides propane services across western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.

In addition to providing propane to both residential and commercial customers, ProGas provides temporary heat for construction contractors, industrial gas for commercial businesses and autogas for fleets.

“We are extremely pleased that ProGas chose EDP as its partner to transition the company for its next chapter,” says Tom Knauff, president of EDP. “Ron Schramm and co-owner Tom Kniss have built an excellent business with a reputation for safety and top-quality customer service. We welcome their employees to EDP and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to their customers.”

“When we knew it was time to sell our business, we wanted to find the right company,” Schramm says. “One that would continue taking good care of our employees, our customers and the communities we serve. We are confident EDP was the right choice.”

Earlier this year, EDP also acquired California-based Van Unen Miersma Propane.
